BARBARA JONES
Barbara is the Chairman of the Band. She has the responsibility of keeping the Trustees in order. Barbara works for many local organisations the foremost of these being the Sleaford Chamber of Commerce and the Christmas Market Committee. She has played a major role in the organisation of the Sleaford Water Weekend and I think it is fair to say that she is "a doer as well as an organiser" She is a very busy woman but always finds time for her important duties with the Sleaford Concert Band. Her latest project involves fundraising for GIFTS in the Sleaford area. |

JACK COLLINGS
Jack is the Band Vice President as well as being an elected Trustee. Jack has been involved with the Sleaford Concert Band for many years and one of his passions is encouraging the youngsters in the Training Band. He is on Sleaford Town Council and was elected as the Mayor in 2007/08. Although not a playing member of the Band, Jack's interest in music is very obvious and he attends band rehearsals on Saturday mornings when his Civic duties permit. |

JAYNE FIELD
Jayne is the Vice-Chairman of the band. But she is much much more. She takes responsibility for the day to day running of the band and all matters of administration are undertaken by her. Every band should have a Jayne!! Although she is not a playing member of the band, she has made the organisation of the band her own and the usual reply to the question of what's happening? is - ASK JAYNE!! |

JIM McQUADE
Jim is a founder member of the band and the Director of Music. 22 years experience with the Royal Air Force Music Services has been transferred to the musical leadership of the band. He has spent the last 12 years educating young people to the enjoyment they can gain from studying music. He is a Fellow of the Teaching Awards Trust having been a regional winner in 2003. |
KEN GARFIELD
Ken is a founder member of the band and the Director of Music of the Training Band. He is currently training to be a teacher and his teaching skills have been evident to all since he became the leader of the training band. His light hearted style has encouraged many youngsters and non so youngsters to continue with their musical studies. Although the solo clarinet in the Concert Band, Ken's first love is his recorder on which he is one of Lincolnshire's finest performers. |
VI HILL
Vi is a founder member of the band and it was her idea to form a musical group in the town to give wind players a chance to perform as a group. Vi is very active in Sleaford promoting all types of music and in particular was a moving force in the annual Sleaford Live musical event. Vi believes passionately that the town needs a purpose built concert hall for all the town's musical groups and she is very active in promoting this idea. Vi has recently retired from running the local music shop. She is so highly thought of within the town that she was awarded Sleafordian of the Year in 2006. A well deserved honour. |

During his army career he visited many places, including most of Europe, America and the Middle East. One highlight was when, in 1988 he was part of a 9 piece band who went from Gibraltar to Malaga to provide the backing for "The Four Tops". Dave has been back in civvie street since 2004. He is a peripatetic and private music teacher, freelance saxophonist and conductor. |

JANE McQUADE
Jane is a founder member of the band and plays French Horn. She has lived in Lincolnshire for the past 31 years and recently celebrated her silver wedding anniversary - she deserves a medal for having been married to the Director of Music for that length of time!! She works as an HLTA at a local school and helps deliver music education up to GCSE level. She is particularly interested in gifted and talented and leads the Fast track GCSE courses in school. Jane is responsible for the finances of the band. |

JJ BAIGENT
John (JJ) has been with the band since he left the Royal Air Force Music Services a few years ago. He is the solo trumpet player and leads a section of 6 other trumpets. He has visited many countries throughout Europe, Middle East and Asia and is now the Band Manager as well as being an elected Trustee. He has a particularly wicked sense of humour and has been known to dress up as a choir boy, Frank Sinatra and Marlena Dietrich during concerts!! All of which need to be seen to be believed!! |
JAMES PAINTER
James is the drummer in the band and is a founder member. He has worked extremely hard at his drumming and in the early days paid for professional drum lessons to improve his playing. Until recently he played with the Training Band. He is the proud owner of Discoassis and spends most of his Friday and Saturday night providing top quality music for weddings, birthdays and other social events. A bachelor, he lives at home with his family, so any girls out there who are interested in meeting a handsome rich young man then just give James a ring!! |

BRIAN COOPER
Brian joined the band approximately five years ago and has a brass band background having played with other bands in both Sleaford and Grantham on trombone. On joining the Sleaford Concert Band he decided to learn to read bass clef which allowed him to take up the euphonium. After a short spell with the Training Band he joined the Concert Band where he now plays second trombone. Brian has a gift for administration and last year he volunteered to try to get the band a grant from The National Lottery, Awards for All. After six weeks dedicated work towards this project the bid was submitted and on the first application we received nearly £10,000. Brian was solely responsible for this and the band owes him a huge vote of thanks for all his hard work. He retired from his teaching post at Carres Grammar school nearly three years ago and he says he is busier than ever!! |

GEORGE MORTON
George has come up through the "ranks". He joined the Training Band when he was knee high to a grasshopper and he has stayed ever since. He plays in the trumpet section in the Concert Band but still turns up every Saturday to help out at the Training Band rehearsals looking after our younger trumpeters. A gifted musician, George plays with The Band from County Hell and can be seen most Christmas's busking in Sleaford during the annual market. He has attended many music courses, raising the money to pay for them by himself. He hopes to study music and to enter the profession as a professional. George represents the Training Band as a Trustee. |

GERRY SIVITER
Gerry was elected onto the Trustees in 2008 and holds the award for the furthest travelled individual in the band. He lives near Grimsby and travels to all band functions and meetings (a round trip of nearly 100 miles). He plays euphonium in the Sleaford Concert Band but has performed with many other bands both locally and nationally. He is a welcome addition the the trustees bringing with him a wealth of experience. |
EMMA-JANE FIELD
Emma-Jane joined the Trustees in 2008 and has been a member of the band since 1998. She sits on solo trumpet between Phil Richards and JJ Baigent and tries to keep some sort of order in the trumpet section. She does admit she is fighting a losing battle with those two!! Emma comes from a musical family, her Grandad (Roy Wetton) once performed in local bands on trombone. She is a trainee accountant and is the band auditor. |
MANDY TAYLOR
Appointed as a Trustee in 2008, Mandy joined the Training Band after learning the alto saxophone. She now helps out on the percussion section in the Concert Band playing all sorts of different instruments. Her claim to fame is playing the broom handle at the start of the band arrangement of Pirates of the Caribbean. we had to buy the broom handle specially. Mandy helps with the teas and coffees at rehearsals which is much appreciated by all the musicians. Mandy is an example of how someone with no musical experience can progress and become a part of a set up like the Sleaford Concert Band. |
